Why am I being charged a transfer fee on my contract?

It is important to note that you are not being charged a transfer fee extra to your agreed purchase price, we are required to show it as a separate item in your total purchase price.

After you accept a "Drive Away Price" (referred to on your contract as the "TOTAL DELIVERED PRICE"), we enter this price in to your contract. Working backwards, the transfer fee is removed from the "Drive Away Price" and listed on your contract separately. The balance is then listed as the "Vehicle Sale Price". When you add the two together you arrive at your "Drive Away Price' listed on the contract.

The reason the transfer fee is listed separately is so that we can recognise the charge from Queensland Transport but mostly so that you are charged the correct amount of GST as registration costs such as transfer fees are excluded from having GST charged. Below is a screen shot of the Vehicle Pricing that shows you how this works.

EXAMPLE: Mr Jones bought a used caravan for$31,800 and has a solar panel included in the purchase. Thetotal delivered price reflects the agreed price of $31,800. The registration transfer fee amount has been listed separately as $28.05 so we have reduced the VehicleSale Price to $31,771.95 to ensure that your Total Delivered Price is still $31,800.

If you add options after the drive away price is agreed upon, these options willbe listed along with the registration figure. Your "Vehicle SalePrice" should never change.
